Teagan
Teagan's Story
Teagan was born with Arthrogryposis, a rare condition that causes joint stiffness and abnormal muscle development. In the womb, her legs were positioned over her head, and her arms were tucked beneath them. By the time she was two weeks old, Teagan had undergone 21 individual castings to correct the direction of her feet. By age nine, she had already endured multiple surgeries.
When Teagan’s family learned about the specialized rehabilitation care available at Ranken Jordan, they knew it was exactly what she needed. Teagan spent nine weeks at Ranken Jordan, filling the halls with her laughter and friendliness, quickly becoming a beloved part of the hospital community.
Karen shared, “It has been a wonderful experience—not only for Teagan but for me as well.”
During her stay, Teagan achieved a life-changing milestone: walking on flat feet for the first time. Karen noticed a difference in Teagan’s walking just days before they were scheduled to leave. When she shared her concerns with Teagan’s physical therapist, they realized that Teagan had outgrown her ankle-foot orthotic (AFO) during her time at Ranken Jordan.
With just 24 hours to spare before their scheduled departure, Ranken Jordan’s dedicated care team and the generosity of its donors made sure that Teagan had a new AFO, allowing her to continue her progress without interruption.
From not even knowing Ranken Jordan existed to describing it as a wonderland, Teagan’s family is overwhelmed with gratitude for the transformative care and support they received. Thanks to Ranken Jordan, Teagan is now walking confidently and living her best life, and her family will forever be thankful.
