Ranken Jordan Pediatric Bridge Hospital executives are honored to announce a gift of $1 million to the Beyond Campaign from the Berges Family Foundation. The Foundation promotes the arts and cultural engagement, youth empowerment, and academic preparation in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). The Berges Family Foundation also provides funds for health, welfare and career guidance to local first responders and military veterans.
Jim, Cathy and Kevin Berges understand the importance of a unique bridge hospital in the Saint Louis area. “When serving on the board of St. Louis Children’s Hospital, I became aware of the pressing need for a post-acute medical facility that helps children and their families transition to in-home care. Ranken Jordan has developed a superior model for this kind of care, but demand has far outstripped the current facility. This new addition will provide capacity to serve almost twice as many patients and we are proud to be able to help,” said Berges.
Frequently at full capacity, Ranken Jordan is unable to accept all additional patients from referral hospitals. The 34-bed Maryland Heights hospital is expecting to break ground on its expansion in October, adding 26 inpatient beds to reach a maximum of 60 beds, thanks to the generosity of The Berges Family Foundation and many others. In addition, the hospital will expand its outpatient therapy program to serve even more children in the region.
Ranken Jordan Pediatric Bridge Hospital helps kids and families transition from the acute care hospital to home. Advances in medicine are saving more children’s lives; however, many of these children have medically complex conditions which require comprehensive medical care and rehabilitation. Our innovative Care Beyond the Bedside healthcare model ensures that the children we treat are up and out of their beds every day, accelerating their progress as they make a successful transition home.
Ranken Jordan offers care through a 60-bed inpatient program and several outpatient programs, including outpatient therapy, a physiatry clinic and a comprehensive orthopedic/rehabilitation clinic. Ranken Jordan’s Community Program provides free recreational and educational programs for all kids and their families.
