In October of 2016 Ranken Jordan broke ground on a 78,000 square-foot expansion, which will allow us to more than double in size, expanding from a 34-bed facility to a 60-bed inpatient facility.
“We are a national model for pediatric care and very proud of our specially designed facility and dedicated medical and therapy staff,” says Lauri Tanner, President and Chief Executive Officer. “But, for some time now, we have been running at capacity and have not been able to take in the children that need our specialty care on their road to recovery. This addition will allow us to effectively double the number children each year.” Ranken Jordan currently cares for approximately 300 inpatients each year.
While construction is expected to be completed in early 2018, it can’t come early enough. “There are children in the community who aren’t getting to Ranken Jordan because we just currently don’t have the space. We are extremely pleased that that will change soon as we offer more help and more hope for some children and families that need it most.”
The new expansion will to be connected to the east end of Ranken Jordan’s current facility and will be designed to focus on care for adolescent patients, while care for infants and younger children will be based in the existing hospital building. The main level of the new building will consist mainly of patient rooms, while the second floor will include clinical and therapy space, a wellness center, and office and meeting space. The lower level will include additional office and training space as well as expanded space for the hospital pharmacy.
